Norma M. Paige, 85, formerly of Community Way in Keene died at the Keene Center-Genesis Eldercare on Thursday morning, April 3, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Norma was born in Pawtucket, RI on September 18, 1928 the daughter of Norman and Margaret (Hye) Houston. Norma was very close to her stepmother, Frances (Murphy) Houston. They always considered each other mother and daughter. She grew up and attended schools in Pawtucket and was a high school graduate. Norma M. Paige, 85, formerly of Community Way in Keene died at the Keene Center-Genesis Eldercare on Thursday morning, April 3, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
Norma was born in Pawtucket, RI on September 18, 1928 the daughter of Norman and Margaret (Hye) Houston. Norma was very close to her stepmother, Frances (Murphy) Houston. They always considered each other mother and daughter.
She grew up and attended schools in Pawtucket and was a high school graduate.
Norma has been a resident of Keene for the past fifty five years having moved first to West Swanzey and then Keene from South Attleboro, MA. Norma was one of the original program leaders at the Keene Head Start program. Norma was also a waitress for many years with her best friend Joanne Tullar at the Open Kitchen.
Norma was a member of the Parish of the Holy Spirit and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
She was also a member and former Regent of the Court Josephine Catholic Daughters of America, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality, the Keene Senior Citizens Center, the Keene Woman's Club, and the Gordon-Bissell Post 4 American Legion Auxiliary.
She was a homemaker at heart and loved to be with her family and friends. Norma was a very kind, charitable, and compassionate person and was a foster grandparent. She loved to tell stories and jokes. She also enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her family and her friends.
She is survived by six daughters; Patricia Paige Colburn and her husband Ray, Kathryn Landers and her husband Gary, Beth Candello and her husband Mark, and Norma Beauregard all of Swanzey, NH; Sharon Bosely and her husband Mike of Munsonville, NH, and Barbara Paige and her partner Ron Sharron of Marlow, NH; her son Harry O. Paige, III and his wife Kathy of Brattleboro, VT; sixteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Harry O. Paige, Jr., her sister Barbara Henry, her brother Jim Houston, a grandson Matthew Candello, Jr., her son-in-law Richard Beauregard and many other family members.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Bernard's Church, 185 Main Street, Keene, NH on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Steven M. Kucharski, Associate Pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street Keene. Family and friends are invited to call at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene on Sunday afternoon, April 6, 2014 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
