Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 29, 2015.

Norman Lewis Schlosser died peacefully at the Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell Sunday, March 29, at the age of 82.

Norman is survived by his six children, Norma Catherine Kingsley (Mark), Susan Newman (Berry), Stephen Schlosser, Elaine Schlosser, Claire Novoa (Vincent), and Rita Van Duinen (Edwin); stepson, Anthony Stewart; nephew, David Schlosser (Ellen); niece, Anne Pearman (Dennis); 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and other loving extended family. He is preceded in death by his 2nd wife, Helen Louise Schlosser; parents, Ignatius Valentine and Susie Lewis Schlosser of Greensboro; brother, Ignatius Valentine Schlosser Jr.; and niece, Joan Schlosser, also of Greensboro

Norman was born on July 21, 1932. He graduated from Greensboro High School in 1951 where he was class president and held a B.S. in Chemistry from Guilford College. Norman worked as Quality Control Manager at Pfizer of Greensboro for 35 years. He was one of several surviving grandchildren of Andrew Leopold Schlosser, a master stonemason who built many homes in and around the Greensboro area.

Norman loved to garden and to take care of the many wild birds he dutifully fed each day at his home. He enjoyed music and singing, and was at one time, a member of a local barbershop quartet.

All are welcome to celebrate Norman's life during visitation hours on Friday, April 3, from 6-9 PM at Hanes-Lineberry located at 515 N. Elm St. in Greensboro. A graveside service is scheduled for 2 PM on Saturday, April 4 at Lakeview Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the funeral home's N. Elm St. location. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell at 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC, 27215 or to the Salvation Army of Greensboro at 1311 S. Cathy, Susie, and all the sibs, I am so sorry your Dad got sick and died--and so soon after your stepmother! He survived the hornet attack, but sadly, not this. Cathy & Susie, remember going to see your relatives at Lake Norman back in the 90's? I was there, too, and Norman was so funny! That was a good time and a good memory. May God's peace and strength be with you.

I am a new Norman Schlosser friend, friendship not even a year old. After viewing the slide show, I realize that Norman was a smart, witty, loving, & devoted person. His photos show how much he loved his children and took the time to nurture them. Norman and family....you are a huge influence in my life because you have shown and are showing me what a FAMILY really is! His later years showed smart, witty, & loving!

What makes a truly good man is when his children grow up to be strong, independent individuals who set great examples as parents themselves, and as caregivers when the tables are turned later in life. I didn't know you Norman, but from what I know of your daughter, you were a truly good man.
Rest in peace.
