Norman W. Redman age 85, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:50 A.M. on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Norman was born January 13, 1927 in Gettysburg, Ohio to the late Bill E. & Edith (Bashore) Redman. Norman is survived by his wife, Mary Alice (Sharp) Redman whom he married December 29, 1945; son & daughter-in-law, Stephen & Peggy Redman of Centerville; daughter & son-in-law, Alice & Mike Hogg of Greenville; grandchildren, Nathan & Michelle Redman, Christopher & Jessica Redman, and Whitney & Joe Arnett; great grandsons, Tyler & Alex Redman, and a great...
Norman W. Redman age 85, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:50 A.M. on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Norman was born January 13, 1927 in Gettysburg, Ohio to the late Bill E. & Edith (Bashore) Redman.
Norman is survived by his wife, Mary Alice (Sharp) Redman whom he married December 29, 1945; son & daughter-in-law, Stephen & Peggy Redman of Centerville; daughter & son-in-law, Alice & Mike Hogg of Greenville; grandchildren, Nathan & Michelle Redman, Christopher & Jessica Redman, and Whitney & Joe Arnett; great grandsons, Tyler & Alex Redman, and a great granddaughter expected in January of 2013; sister, Nancy Stump of Bradford; brother-in-law, Gene Sharp of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Norman is also preceded in death by a brother, Dale Redman.
Norman served in the U.S. Army during WWII. While in the U.S. Army he graduated from Glider and Parachute School. Norman retired from Frank Girbert Implement Inc. where he was a farm equipment salesman with 40 years of service. He also served 13 years with Greenville Rescue as a non-emergency driver. Norman was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Greenville where he was a trustee for 40 years and a dart ball captain. Norman was a 60 year member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge #143 F&AM; 32nd Degree Mason of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton; Antioch Shrine Club of Dayton; Darke County Shrine Club; and the Greenville American Legion.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Dr. Jim Vandermark officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Greenville Veteran's Honor Guard. A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted by the Greenville Masonic Lodge at 7:45 P.M., followed by the Scottish Rite Ring Service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice or the Darke County Shrine Club Crippled Children's Fund.
