Octavia "Sisi" (Tearney) Jones, 70, of Syracuse, passed away suddenly Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a life resident of Syracuse, a graduate of Nottingham High School and Bryant and Stratton. Octavia was employed at Nationwide Insurance Company and retired from Time Warner Cable. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church and the founder of Soul Generation. Predeceased by her son, Alan "Jamie" Jones; parents, Jean and James Tearney; sister, Frieda Tearney and brother, Dr. Russell Tearney. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Alan Jones; son, Chris (Anita) Jones; granddaughters, Alana, Tatyanna, Kiara, Chanya and Aaliyah; stepdaughter, Jane (Damion) Hudson; step grandchildren, Daquona, Shanika and Isiah; 5 step great-grandchildren; sister, Stacey Tearney Moore; brothers, Greg (Judy) Tearney and Michael (Joyce) Tearney; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services: Friday 10 a.m. at Farone & Son Funeral Home. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Calling hours: will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park St.
