NEW IBERIA – Odette Boutte Angelle passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2012 at Consolata Home in New Iberia. She was 89.
Survivors include her children, Linda Angelle Breaux and husband Michael D. Breaux; Larry J. Angelle and wife Madeline Lovell Angelle all of New Iberia; a son-in-law, Carlos Girouard of Broussard; her grandchildren, Jason Jude Etie, Jean-Michael Breaux, Angelle-Leigh Breaux, Scott Girouard, Karen Rhymes, David Girouard, Rachel Roan, Alex Girouard, Angela Brasher, Tonia Angelle, Amie Medeiros, Melissa Pitre, Christy St. Romain, Lorie Romein, Larry Angelle, Jr., Jacob Angelle, and Victoria Angelle; numerous great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; her sister, Betty Jean Boutte Louviere and husband Roland of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tibby Angelle; a daughter, Susan Angelle Girouard; parents, Laurent "Doc" Boutte and Emelia Robicheaux Boutte; sisters, Rose Louviere and Beatrice Freyou; and brothers, Louis and Jimmy Boutte.
Odette was a graduate of New Iberia High School. Although she was a homemaker, she also owned and operated the Showboat Apts. for over 60 years and managed other rental properties in New Iberia as well. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and was active in bringing newcomers of New Iberia to Sacred Heart parish. She had a love of music and dancing and was a collector of porcelain dolls. She leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 9:00 am Saturday March 2 at Evangeline Funeral Home and will be followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 11:00 am. Deacon Stephen VanCleve will officiate. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Angelle's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
