Olga "Tiny" Buckenmeyer, 94, of Napoleon passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Lutheran Village of Wolf Creek in Maumee. She was the wife of the late Charles Buckenmeyer.

She is survived by her children James (Patricia) Buckenmeyer of Whitehouse, Cindy Freytag of Cincinnati, Sandy (Joseph) Bowditch of Sebring, Florida, and Tony Buckenmeyer of Whitehouse. She is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfonsay and Olga Horochena, and her brothers John, Nick, and Alexander Horochena.

Olga was born in Chicago on July 6, 1918. She grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin where she graduated from high school in 1936. She then attended and graduated from Michael Reese Nursing School in 1940. She enlisted in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps in 1943 and was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant in 1946. She met her future husband while treating him for wounds sustained while serving in France during World War II. They were married at Camp Chapel Epinal, France on July 3, 1945.

After the war, the Buckenmeyers settled in Napoleon where she was employed as a nurse at Heller Memorial Hospital and the Campbell Soup Company. She retired in 1980.

Olga was known as a generous, compassionate person who loved animals and nature. She was also an excellent cook and baker. She was her late husband's most avid fan, and was always in the stands cheering on the Napoleon Wildcats.

She was a devoted Catholic who attended St. Augustine Catholic Church.

The family would like to give special thanks to all the caregivers at the Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek and also to Odyssey Hospice.

Visitation will be at St. Augustine Catholic Church on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 12:00 pm until time of the Funeral Mass at 1:00pm. Father Daniel E. Borgelt officiating.
