Oliver Jewell "Baby Jay" Tallant, III, Pontotoc
Jay was called home to be with the Lord on September 7, 2017. He died at his home in Pontotoc. Jay was born February 3, 1973 to O.J. and Charlene Tallant. He attended Pontotoc City School, ICC and North East Community College. Jay was an avid Nascar fan, and loved driving. He attended the NASCAR School in Mooresville, NC. and that is when he drove twice for Tony Stewart, his very favorite driver. Jay is a member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church.
Services will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Ratliff officiating; burial will follow in the Pontotoc City Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
Survivors include his mother, Charlene Tallant, two daughters, Brittany and Karlee Tallant; one sister, Tharesa Stutsy (Don); two brothers, Tony and Michael Tallant (Tracy); a host of nephews and great nephews, along with many friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, O.J. Tallant, Jr.; and his grandparents, Hattie and Oliver Jewell Tallant, Sr., and Anna Loyce and A.D. Stokes.
Pallbearers will be Josh Tallant, Heath Tallant, Jeff Tallant, Anthony "Moose" Fredrick, Jake Kenney and Dickie Austin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Poe, Tim Ferguson, Jay Ferguson and Lynn Patton. Special Honorary Pallbearers will be his great-nephews, Cody, Collin, Cooper, Kayden, Bentley and Landen Blayke.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM Saturday and from 1 to 3 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
