Mr. Omer N. LeBlanc, age 92, of Lynn, died suddenly on Friday, August 15, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Mabel (Beauchesne) LeBlanc, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, he was the son of the late Edward and Adeline (Poirier) LeBlanc. He attended St. Jean's Grammar School, was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, and later graduated from St. Michael's College. He enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and served in the South Pacific aboard the SS Denver, which suffered a torpedo hit. He was involved with the Battle of the Philippines and was later honorably discharged...
Mr. Omer N. LeBlanc, age 92, of Lynn, died suddenly on Friday, August 15, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Mabel (Beauchesne) LeBlanc, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.
Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, he was the son of the late Edward and Adeline (Poirier) LeBlanc. He attended St. Jean's Grammar School, was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, and later graduated from St. Michael's College. He enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and served in the South Pacific aboard the SS Denver, which suffered a torpedo hit. He was involved with the Battle of the Philippines and was later honorably discharged in 1945 with a Purple Heart.
Omer founded Homestead Realty and Insurance Agency, Inc. in the 1950s and along with his business partner, Richard Marquis, they were involved in the development of subdivisions in the Fay Estates and Den Quarry Road. He was approved by the Probate Court as an expert in appraisals for local banks and the City of Lynn Redevelopment Authority. He was a member of the North Shore Massachusetts and New England Insurance Agencies. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and St. Pius V Church, where he was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and past vice-president of the Holy Name Society. For many years, he was very involved with the Catholic Charities in Lynn. He was a 50 year member of the Tedesco Country Club, life member of Valladolid Council #70 Knights of Columbus and was elected to the American Assoc. of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
Omer greatly enjoyed snow-skiing with his dear friend, Larry Godbout, waterskiing, and traveling the world with his wife. He will be fondly remembered as a very charitable man and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two children: Carol LeBlanc of Meredith, NH and Philip LeBlanc of Atlanta, GA. He was the brother to Joseph Edward LeBlanc and his wife Mary of Lynn, Leo LeBlanc and his wife Ursula of Massachusetts, Raymond M. LeBlanc of Boston, Cecile "Terry" Doucette and her husband Ronald of Nashua, NH and the late Marie Wallace and her late husband Francis. He was the Grandfather to Joshua A. LeBlanc, Meghan M. LeBlanc, Ryan S. LeBlanc and Nicole D. LeBlanc. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late R. Steven LeBlanc.
His Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Tuesday at 10:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 11:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the , 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.
