Obituary

Opal Alexander, 96, passed peacefully into her Father's presence on Sunday, October 27, 2013. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Rick Standard will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Briarwood Baptist Church, 1900 Robin Hood Road, Watkinsville, GA 30677. Opal Alexander, 96, passed peacefully into her Father's presence on Sunday, October 27, 2013. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Alexander, wife of the late Charles Brian Alexander, was born in Hogansville, GA the daughter of the late Joel Richard Mooney and Minnie Leona Boggs Mooney and was the last surviving child of ten children. Moving to Macon in 1926, she was a member of Cherokee Heights Baptist Church, Bellevue Baptist Church. After moving to Athens, she was a member of Briarwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Alexander was always active in the life of her church and while at Cherokee Heights, served with the Senior Adult Ministry for nearly twenty-four years. She worked as bookkeeper and secretary with WNEX Radio and Macon Rescue Mission. She was most devoted to her family, her church family and her friends whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to express their appreciation and love for the care given by her grandson and his wife, Hank and Cindy Alexander.

Survivors include her beloved family, her sons, Richard (Helga) Robinson of Ruskin, FL, John H. (Ella) Alexander, Sr. of Panama City, FL, Jerry Robinson of Rome, GA and Donald (Anne) Alexander of Enola, PA; her stepdaughter, Imogene (Jack) Robertson of Gray; numerous and dearly loved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
