Memorial services for Opal Jones, 95, of Lubbock, will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, Ropesville, with Rev. Bill Titus, pastor, officiating. Services are under direction of George Price Funeral Home, Levelland. She died Saturday, October 13, 2012 in Lubbock. She was born on August 26, 1917 in Portales, New Mexico to Fred and Iva (Harris) Malcolm. She marriedWinston Ward Jones on June 30, 1933 in Lovington, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1993. Mr. and Mrs. Jones had moved to the Ropesville area from Terry County. She was born on August 26, 1917 in Portales, New Mexico to Fred and Iva (Harris) Malcolm. She marriedWinston Ward Jones on June 30, 1933 in Lovington, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1993. Mr. and Mrs. Jones had moved to the Ropesville area from Terry County. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Ropesville and was a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also preceded in death by a son: Dennis Freddie Jones on July 4, 1950..

Survivors include a son: Ronald G. Jones of Lubbock and a daughter: Janice Lee Gillette of Costa Mesa, California; two grandchildren: Darry Jones of Merkel, Texas and Alana Romans of Pawnee, Oklahoma; four great grandchildren: Sterling Jones and Taylor Jones, both of Merkel, Texas; Callie Moore of Idalou, Texas; and Dustin Baker of Lubbock, Texas and two great great grandchildren: Ryan Jones and Cooper Jones, both of Merkel, Texas. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Luther Malcolm and Gradon Malcolm and a sister: Golda Blackstock.
