P. Chris Holder, 66, loving husband and devoted father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Thursday, the 26th of June, 2014, after a five month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on the 13th of December, 1947, in Laurel, Mississippi. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Jean Holder, the oldest of four boys. Chris grew up in Clear Lake before attending Texas A&M where he was a member of the class of '69. From there, he received his MBA from Ole Miss. Upon graduation he moved to Houston and began his career in banking with Capital Bank. It was at that time that he met his number one girl, Joni. Chris' career in banking spanned over 40 years where he was respected by many for his expertise, honesty, and integrity.

For those who knew Chris, no one escaped his quick wit and genuine interest in others.

Chris was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was also a classic car enthusiast, WWII buff, and aspiring BBQ master. He will be remembered for the lifelong friendships in banking and at church, the mentoring he gave to young employees, his love for Texas, his appreciation for home, and his complete devotion to the world's best dog, Berkman. But, above all else, Chris loved his family well and the Lord and His Word. He was blessed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Joni; daughter and precious angel, Megan Holder, and husband, Dan Chandler; son and pal, Christopher; brother, Mark Holder, and wife, Lynett; brother, Todd Holder, and wife, Dawn; sister-in-law, Sheryl Lipscomb, and husband, Rob; nieces, Taylor Price, and husband, Justin, Allyson and Katherine Holder and Katherine Lipscomb; nephews, Paul Holder and Kevin Lipscomb; and many adoring cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul Holder.

The family would like to thank Chris' doctors, Dr. Anthony Popek, Dr. Ronjay Rakkhit and Dr. Aga Kuliev for their wisdom, compassion and kindness as he bravely battled pancreatic cancer.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening on Sunday, the 29th of June in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

A memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Monday, the 30th of June, at Bethel Church, 825 Bering Drive in Houston, where Dr. Dwain Camp, Associate Pastor, is to officiate.

Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the church fellowship hall.

Prior to the memorial service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the Harold M. Hecht Endowment Fund for Pancreatic Cancer Research: MD Anderson Cancer Center, designated to the "Harold M. Hecht Endowed Fund," The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, PO Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486. You may also donate online at gifts.mdanderson.org (select "Yes!
