Paul Victor Hueter, age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2013. He was born October 18, 1919 in Eden, Ohio one of four children of the Reverend Albert and Renata Otto Hueter. He is survived by his oldest sister, Esther Wirschem, of Rochester, NY.
Paul married the love of his life, Lucille Middleton on September 22, 1944. Together, in Ann Arbor, they raised a family of five children. They met while both were attending the University of Michigan. Paul attended the U of M then graduated from Cornell University as a Naval Officer and engineer. He served in the Pacific Theater during WWII and remained in the Naval Active Reserves for 20 years. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander. Paul was employed as a production engineer for the Ford Motor Co for 25 years. It was a job that he thoroughly enjoyed and reluctantly retired from in 1984.
In retirement Paul enjoyed travel (especially road trips with his wife Lucille), music, reading, gardening, photography and spending time with their grandchildren, who Paul entertained by wiggling his ears and pretending to hate cats. Paul took great comfort in his faith having been a member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1957.
Paul could be seen in the neighborhood walking each day for his daily paper and tending to his lawn and vegetable garden. One of his greatest delights was enjoying a gourmet dinner, prepared by his wife and an occasional glass of Drambuie after dinner. Paul will be remembered by those who knew him for his often gruff and always stubborn nature as well as his acerbic sense of humor.
In addition to his wife, Lucille, Paul is survived by their children, William (Patricia), Carl (Victoria) and Martin (Nadine), five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. His daughter Diane and son James preceded him in death.
Cremation has taken place and internment will take place at a future date.
