Graveside, under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home, will be Saturday, 2:30 p.m. at Mattox Cemetery in Upshur County.
Parmar was born in Littlefield, Texas on October 7, 1930. Later his family moved to Upshur County, residing in the Stamps community northeast of Gilmer.
Parmar graduated from New Diana high school in 1948. He received a B. S. degree from (at the time) East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce in 1951 and an M. S. degree in 1952. He served as principal for the elementary school in New Diana, before entering the United States Army at the time of the Korean War. During his army service, he taught soldiers basic elementary subjects.
After the army, Parmar taught math at Gilmer high school. In 1955, he began working for General Dynamics in the aerospace industry, as an engineer, conducting tests in super sonic and hyper sonic wind tunnels in Lone Star and Fort Worth, Texas.
In 1956, Parmar married Jackie Sue Spigner. They were married for 56 years. In 1970, Parmar and Jackie moved their family to Tyler, where Parmar owned and operated several small businesses for the next 35 years.
Parmar's main interest, outside of his family, was serving as an elder for the Broadway Church of Christ for 17 years. He and his family were charter members of the congregation.
Parmar was preceded in death by his parents Matha Parmar and Ruby Gregory as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Surviving family members are his wife, Jackie; and their two children: daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Gilbert Hearn of Flint, and son and daughter–in-law Mark and Angel Gregory, of Mesquite. In his last years, Parmar's four grandchildren were his delight; Lauren Long and husband, Riley of Dallas, Landon Gregory of Arlington, Clint Hearn of College Station and Emily Hearn of Tyler.
Pallbearers will be Troy Bland, John Caylor, Billy Ray Dean, Gale McMullen, Ric Steele, and Lynn Tindall.
Honorary pallbearers include Art Mitchell, Marcus Turner, and Fred Wilkinson.
The family wishes to acknowledge the many years of care provided by Dr. Donald Knarr and Dr. Kenny Kummerfeld. Also, special thanks to Mrs. Cora Nelson who assisted with Parmar's care during these past several months.

Jackie and family we offer our thanks to you and Parmer for the memories that started with our sharing conversations and laughter on the front porch of Mrs. Bledsoe's home in Commerce, TX when we were all college students together. They have continued through today when we had the wonderful sharing experience of Parmer stepping over to the wonderful love we hold in our expectations as Christian believers. It has been a grand experience in the limited time we have had together over these more than 60 years of a sharing and loving friendship. We look forward to that wonderful friendship in our future walk together and getting to know your immediate family even better.
We extend our love to you, Susan, Gilbert, Mark, Angel and other members of your family at this trying time.
