Marilyn Melody Mullen passed away peacefully with her family present on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. She was 95 years young.
Born Marilyn Helen O'Brien in Auburn, Iowa on September 19, 1916, she was soon nicknamed "Pat" as a testimony to her Irish heritage.
Pat grew up in Lake City, Iowa where she taught school before marrying her football star boyfriend, Tom Melody. Pat and Tom lived in Iowa, Connecticut, Minnesota and later settled in Naples, Florida. Pat lived at The Glenview in Naples since 1995.
Pat loved to travel and visited countries around the globe. Her last adventure with daughter Kathy was a three week safari and cruise to Africa.
Pat and Tom Melody were blessed with three children: Larry, Mike and Kathy. They in turn presented ten grandchildren. And grand they were by rewarding Pat with twelve very active great grand children.
Northing was more important to Pat than being with friends and surrounded by her wonderful, loving family ...and, of course, hearing and telling a few Irish jokes.
Pat is pre-deceased by her beloved husband Tom in 1984 and her dear second husband Dr. Joseph Mullen in 1996.
A service for Pat will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 18th at Hodges Funeral Home at 525 111th Avenue North in Naples with a reception following at The Glenview, 100 Glenview Place, Naples, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Naples, Inc. or Glenview Employee Scholarship Fund.
