Wallace Patton "Pat" Riddell, 73, passed away July 27, 2013. He was born December 26, 1939, in Burnet to Wallace Riddell and Rachel Estelle "Essie" Hollingsworth Riddell.
Pat is survived by his sister, Vonnie Fox and brother in law, Billy Joe Fox; Pat's wife of 40 years, Ann Clayton Riddell; daughters, Renee Riddell-Owens, Randi Reifle and Rachel Holcomb, son in laws, Michael Holcomb and Beau Reifle; grandchildren, Makayla & Chelsea Warden, Avery & Aidan Holcomb, and Halsey Riddell-Owens; nieces, Gail Grigsby, Rachel & Mary Anne Curington, all of Burnet and nephews John Grigsby and Jim Vagher, of Providence, R.I., as well as many cousins and friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Burnet County Sheriff Wallace Riddell and wife, Rachel Estelle "Essie" Hollingsworth Riddell; sisters Modena Curington and Daisybel Grigsby and a nephew, Chuck Grigsby.
Pat was raised in Burnet and graduated from Burnet High in 1958 with a football scholarship to Texas Tech University where he studied and was a quaterback for 3 years before transferring to the University of Texas, Austin. Pat then enlisted with the United States Marine Corps which was followed by careers in Rodeo and Real Estate, beginning in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pat's rodeo career as a Bulldogger spanned 14 years and was a true passion, but Real Estate is where he chose to make his mark. After meeting his beautiful wife Ann, he chose to settle down in Burnet where he raised his family and served his community. He was named a Burnet Honor Citizen in 1985, following in his father's footsteps, as Sheriff Riddell was the first. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Scottish Rite, Valley Lodge #175, Henry Thomas #278, and the Burnet City Council as Councilman for 12 years. He created and developed the Burnet Tourism Alliance as well as the Burnet Bluebonnet Festival and helped with many other community projects over the years. At the time of his death he was working with the addition of a new development at Delaware Springs.
Pat's love of hunting was almost equal to his love of this community. He was a life member of the Texas Wildlife Association and when he wasn't working on projects or serving on a board, he was out on a hunting trip with his friends and family or coaching his granddaughters on the basketball and volleyball courts. Pat was a man of faith, morals and truth and will be missed terribly by his family and all that knew him.
The viewing will be held Tuesday, July 30 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Hill Country Fellowship Church in Burnet. Interment with a Masonic burial service will follow at Post Mountain Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Burnet Firs Lutheran Church or the Hill Country Community Foundation. Condolences may be offered to www.clementswilcoxburnet.com.

Pat was a wonderful grandfather. When I was coaching Makayla and Chelsea he was always there to offer his help. He was also a great friend to me and my family. When we visited he always left me with a good feeling in my heart. That was the way he treated everyone. I will truly miss him like I know the entire community will.
