Patricia Louise Stapleton of San Angelo went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 29th, 2015, at the age of 72. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4th, 2015, at Word of Life Church with Rev. David Smith officiating. She was born March 19th, 1943, to Edith and John Gilbert. Patricia spent her younger years in life loving and caring for her children and traveling with her husband, John Stapleton, in the Airforce. They lived in Hawaii, Maryland, Louisiana, and finally settled in San Angelo, TX where she became a bookkeeper for C&W. She would go on to take a sales associate position as Sears, where many people remember her as "Patty Cake" the sewing machine lady, where she worked until her retirement. She spent her years after retirement making everlasting memories with her family and sharing her testimony about grace. She is survived by her daughter Kathy Springer and husband David of San Angelo, TX and her son Johnny Stapleton and wife Kristy of Huntsville, TX ; Grandchildren Johnboy, Reanna, James, Rachelle, Sharla, and Ryan, and Great-Grandchildren Lindsey, Conor, Colt, Dexter, and Kate ; Sister JoAnn Porter and husband Jack, sister Wanda Baily and husband James, and brother Dale Gilbert and wife Sherri, sister-in-law Lynda Gilbert, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by John Stapleton, her parents Edith and John Gilbert, and brother Donnie Gilbert. Patricia touched the lives of many people with her infectious smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. In the words of Patricia, "I'm finally home!".

Sorry to hear of Patty's passing. I had tried to check on her, but her house phone has been disconnected. I finally had a chance to go by her home on 3/28/2015. Patty was a great friend, and former co-worker. She will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. Patty was a fine lady and real fun to be around. I worked at Sears with her and I tried hard to make all of her sales go smoothly from the back stockroom.
