Lilburn, GA--Patricia Spearman Kroen, 81, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, of Lilburn, GA, went to be with the Lord on November 24, 2016, at 9:34 p.m. She was surrounded by her children.
Born in Camak, GA, on June 2, 1935, to the late Charles and Sybil Hunt Spearman, Pat graduated from Richmond Academy in Augusta, GA, and later moved to the Atlanta area where she raised her family. Although she had many jobs, skills and talents, the most important titles to her were "Mother" and "Grandmother."
Patricia was a child of God and loved everyone. She was known for seeing the good in all people. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lilburn, GA, where she worked with preschool children and taught English as a second language. She was socially conscious, donating her time and money to many charities. Pat's door was always open to others, making them feel like a part of the family. Where others might see a crisis, Pat turned that situation into an adventure, seeking only the good in life.
Pat is survived by her children: Sybil Vazquez, Douglas (Cathy) Clayton, Leslie Clayton, Sara Carlsen and step-daughter Marian (Bob) Schwen; eight grandchildren: Elena Booth, Erica (Stephon) Hope, Anna (Scott) Taylor, Samuel Vazquez, Patricia Carlsen, Bradley Clayton, Clayton Carlsen and Brooklyn Clayton; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Penny (David) Barnette, Nancy (Gary) Waters, and Susan (Bernard) Prescott; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Pat was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles "Buddy" Spearman and William "Billy" Spearman.
Visitation will be Monday, November 28, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Rd., Augusta, GA. The funeral will be Tuesday, November 29, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, officiated by Keven Cable, Associate Pastor, First Baptist Church of Lilburn. The burial will follow at approximately 12:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2700 Deans Bridge Rd., Augusta, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Pat Kroen at woundedwarriorproject.org/Donate.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff and members of the First Baptist Church of Lilburn for their assistance and support during her illness.
