Patricia Adams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 15, 2012.

On September 13 at 7:45 am, a beautiful morning, with family at her side, Pat went peacefully to be with her Lord. Patricia Louise Hestetune Hunter Adams was born on September 7, 1926 in Richland Center, Wisconsin to her parents, Helen Hestetune and Otto Hestetune. After high school where she was an honor student, Pat attended the University of Wisconsin Madison to study music. Pat was one of three children, and is survived by her brother, Dan Hestetune of Ely, Minnesota and her four children, Carrell Anne Richards (husband Robert), Jack McCarrell Hunter (wife Amelia), Daniel Patrick Hunter (wife Patricia) and Pamela Jean Harrington (husband David). Pat was deeply loved by her children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Thaddeus Adams Jr. and her brother, Jim Hestetune.

While raising her children, Pat worked two jobs to support and care for her family. She worked many years for the American Appraisal Company as office manager, and would come home after working eight hours and go off to Hostess at The Angus Steak House. Never one to complain, Pat was a strong role model for her family, instilling a strong work ethic and a focus on honesty and ethics.

Although Pat had many loves, she was most fond of music and Bridge. Pat was skilled at playing the piano and organ and was involved in choirs of all sorts, but most especially the church choirs of Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church, where she sang tenor in the Chancel Choir, as well as helped direct the children's choirs, the bell choirs and the Chancel Choir. Pat was an Honorary Life Member of Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church where she was a member since 1959. While a member of SAPC, Pat served as a Deacon.

For fun and mental stimulation, Pat played contract bridge and was a formidable Duplicate Bridge Player, where she was a Duplicate Master, having enjoyed the game for almost 50 years. She enjoyed teaching her children the fundamentals of the game, and we all remember her helping us around a card table to understand the intricacies of her favorite card game.

A special thank you to her adopted loving family at Plantation Estates, Vernona, Susan and Felicia, who gave her so much pleasure in her last years. Also, we would be remiss to not also mention the wonderful support of the Hospice Family, Camille and Tiffany. Heaven is better for having her in the angelic choir and sitting North/South with her Lord.

The service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Providence Presbyterian Church, 10140 Providence Rd., Charlotte, with the Reverend Walt McCandless officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall.

Dear Family, I knew Pat when she worked with George Jones at American Appraisal and we worked on the same floor in the "new" First Union building uptown. You were her treasures! I know the many great memories that you have will be of comfort to you now. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Also know that nothing, not even death, can separate us from the love of Christ. Pat believed that I am sure.
Blessings, Barbara Colwell

Dear Family, I pray that you will be covered with God's peace and comfort in the coming days. During the short amount of time that I had the pleasure to help care for Pat, I was blessed just by being around her. She taught a lesson to those around her each day just for being the joyful soul that she was.
