I still recognize Patti. Their family home was the house on the right as you drove up Sare Road. Our home was on the left side of Sare Road, about 3/8th of a mile before "Briscoe's hill." The Johnson's Creamery delivery driver used to let me ride from our place up the gravel road to their place - where I would hop off and go in and sit like a zombie watching television - because the Briscoes were the first folks on Sare Road with a television.Lone Ranger and then Sky King - then it was time to walk back home. I had an older sister, and Patti was sort of like a younger sister who would tell me her problems and give me a great smile. Our family left Indiana in 1960 and moved to Maryland. I went back in 1964 and looked up Patti and others. It was good to see her again and just catch up. We both went to the same one-room school, "Phillips School" (although nobody ever DID find out who the heck "Phillips" was) and rode the school bus together. We learned things at our one-room school that kids in city schools never knew......like saving the waxed paper your mom wrapped your sandwich in, because if you sat on it you went faster down the slide than kids without waxed paper......and do not try to catch the chipmunks living in the stone walls surrounding the playground, because they may be small - but a mad chipmunk carries one heck of a bloody bite when pushed too far. Patti - we did okay for coming out of a one-room school. ...... [email protected] Reed Martin

Patti and I had some good times in high school and college. Always one for a laugh, she once sat in a grocery cart while I pushed it all over the parking lot in my parents' car at the old College Mall on Third Street. Such good memories of her.

I am a professor at Butler University and Patti came to speak at my class 4 or 5 times. She was positive and strong but shared her story to educate the 22 and 23 year old women students on healthy relationships. I visited her at Nordstrom's and at Kittle's. She was great at sales and service. Her smile made you smile too. May she rest in peace now.

Since first meeting Pati when she was employed by the First National Bank of Bloomington, it became abundantly apparent she liberally shared, with every friend or visitor who came into her life, the happiness and joy that filled her heart. Her ever present smile, scintillating wit, and epervescent personality were always on display. May she now rest, secure in her strongly held, lifelong belief in the love and mercy of her Creator.
