HICKS Patricia ""Pat"" Hicks - As she was surrounded by her family, Pat Hicks, an icon of Satsuma, died on December 8, 2012 in the town that she loved so deeply. From 1941-2012, she filled the dash between birth and death with numerous accomplishments. As a native of Satsuma, she spent much of her life working to improve her community. A graduate of both Satsuma High and William Carey University, she was always a vital part of the town-first as a teacher and coach at Satsuma High and later as a member of the Satsuma City Council for twelve years and a member of the Satsuma City School Board since June 2011. In addition, Pat coached at UMS for three years. Although Pat is now gone, her legend lives on. She will always be remembered for the three state softball championships that she and her Lady Gators won. She will also be remembered as an inductee into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame and as a member of the Mobile Bay Sports Authority. Even more importantly, she is immortalized with the Pat Hicks Softball Field, which was dedicated on December 2. Pat Hicks is predeceased by her father, Clifton Pierce and her grandparents, Lester and Linnie Deas and Preston and Elizabeth Pierce. She is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Neal Hicks, her son, Chris (Ginger) Hicks, her mother, Mary Pierce, and special cousins, Joanna Sealy, Julia Ann Deas, Joe and Betty Stringer, Sidney and Ruth Stringer, Phillip Pierce, and Pete Pierce. Pat is also lovingly remembered by many other cousins and friends. Yes, within her dash, she fully embraced life while adding so much to the lives of others. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to Satsuma Public Library or to Satsuma City Schools.

"To All of the Hicks Family: Mrs. Hicks was such a wonderful, sweet person and she will be missed! Heaven has another angel!" Pam Dyar (Satsuma, AL)
