Patricia Sue Long, our beloved and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Thursday, December 13, 2012 at I.U. Health - Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis at the age of 62.
Pat was born in Bedford, Indiana on December 11, 1950, the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Edith Juanita (Rollins) Underwood. She graduated from Needmore High School in 1968 and attended Olivet Nazarene College and Indiana University. Pat later worked for Indiana University in the Bursar's Office. In 1973, Pat went on a date with Robert Long. After their first date, Bob knew that Pat was his soul mate. Bob and Pat were united in marriage on August 25, 1973 and together shared nearly forty years.
Pat will forever be remembered for her kind and thoughtful demeanor. She was constantly putting others before herself and seeing the good in others. As a woman who was religious and of great faith, Pat believed strongly in the power of prayer and loved her Lord. She also enjoyed reading, music, crafts and crocheting.
Pat leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Robert Long; son, Andrew (fiancé Maria) Long of Indianapolis; sisters, Diana (Mark Nordhoff) Underwood of Bedford and Cathy (John) Blackwell of Springville; brother, Tom (Kim) Underwood of Prattville, AL.; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Long of Sullivan and Nancy (Larry) Groth of Ocala, FL. And her nieces and nephews, Julie (Mike) England of Springville, Tom (Kelli) Blackwell of French Lick, Crystal (fiancé Brandon) Underwood of Decatur, IL., along with several other nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, Pat was welcomed home to heaven by her nephew, Tom Underwood, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. until Pat's Memorial Ceremony at 4:00 p.m. at the Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St., Terre Haute. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net

Dear Diana, Cathy & Tom;
Patty was one of my best friends at Needmore and a great neighbor. I have thought of all of you often and wondered where everyone was living. We had great times living in Avoca, dressing up in old clothes and playing in the playhouse. I am so sorry to hear the news! Robert, Patty was a great person and I know you will miss her, may God hold you in his arms during this time of need.

I am shocked and saddened to hear the news of the passing of Patty. Though we haven't seen each other since our graduation, I often thought of her. I feel we missed out on so much by not staying in touch--and now it is too late. I am so very sorry for for the loss to your family. Diana, Cathy & Tom, prayers for you all--and for all of Patty's family.
