Patrick Acosta, 53, of Vancouver passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 at his home. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Ignacio and Nora Acosta.

Patrick was a talented author and illustrator. He started drawing from a young age, preferring drawing to listening to his teachers in school. Born to a large Catholic family, he has always been inspired by God and the miracles that were commanded in God's name. Patrick has won awards for inspirational writings that have been published in the poetry community, including his poem "Personal Friend" which was published in the book The Radiance of Summer Sun and was awarded poet of the year by the International Society of Poets in Washington D.C.

Patrick was also awarded "outstanding achievement Award" by Poetry.com for his work, "Thank you for Life." His poem "Harvest Dance", was published in the book America at the Millennium by the international library of poetry, which stated, "Patrick Acosta's writing sparks the imagination and presents the reader with a fresh unique perspective on life."
Patrick's children's book, "Gabriel of Noah's Ark", which is in production and soon to be published, is a testament of Patrick's spiritual awareness, his connection to God and His wondrous creation. Patrick studied the holy books of the Christian, Jewish and Muslim religions as research for his book, which awakened in him a spiritual wealth of understanding and a deeper connection with God.

Although Patrick was no longer a practicing Catholic, like the soul that continues beyond the body, so too his does, his faith and his connection with God grew beyond religion and physical reality.

Patrick is survived by his life companion, of 25 years Daniel married on January 18, 2014; Parents, Ignacio and Nora; and his five brothers and three sisters.

A celebration of life service for Patrick will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 8th at his home.

He was greatly loved and will be truly missed. His talent and spirit will go on through our memories of him and the tales that he created.
