PATRICK JAMES FISHER, age 99, Indianapolis, died on July 31, 2013. Services will be held on Monday, August 5 at 9:15 AM in Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Matthew Catholic Church. Calling will be held on Sunday, August 4 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the Mortuary. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Fisher, an attorney for 65 years, was a member of the Indianapolis, Indiana and American Bar Associations. He served as a Marion County deputy prosecutor. age 99, Indianapolis, died on July 31, 2013. Services will be held on Monday, August 5 at 9:15 AM in Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Matthew Catholic Church. Mr. Fisher, an attorney for 65 years, was a member of the Indianapolis, Indiana and American Bar Associations. He served as a Marion County deputy prosecutor. Later, he became the attorney for three savings and loan associations. He practiced in association with other attorneys including the law firm of Reddington, Fisher, Houppert and Doyle, which became Fisher and Fisher when he teamed up with his son, Michael.
Mr. Fisher was graduated from the University of Notre Dame with both undergraduate and law degrees. He was an officer and member of the Boards of Directors of the Notre Dame National Alumni Board and the Notre Dame Law School Association. During World War II, he served at Guadalcanal and other islands in the South Pacific as Adjutant General and Judge Advocate. After the War, Mr. Fisher was appointed Chairman of the Indiana War Memorials Commission by Governor Matthew Welsh.
Mr. Fisher was a nationally recognized arbitrator of labor disputes, having been designated as arbitrator in collective bargaining agreements covering employees in numerous industries as well as professional sports. Those agreements required him to resolve disputes between employers and employees in forty-nine states. He was also named as the permanent arbitrator in contracts between the National Football League Players Association and the NFL. President Kennedy appointed him as chairman of boards to resolve disputes in the airline and aerospace industries. In addition to deciding cases at various atomic energy installations, Mr. Fisher served as a member of the Atomic Energy Labor-Management Relations Appeals Board. Mr. Fisher was an officer of the National Academy of Arbitrators and Chairman of its Ethics Committee. He had been Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council No. 437 and a member of the Serra Club and the Kevin Barry Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Carroll Regan Fisher.
Survivors include sons: Patrick J. Jr., Joseph A. (Margaret), Michael R. (Glenda), Christopher J. (Nancy); daughters: Mary M. (Thomas) Fisher-Heath, Anne Fisher Campbell, Frances T. (Robert) Hodge, Grace M. (Mark) Weber, M. Rosalie (William) Fisher-Woodard; grandchildren: Brian Fisher, Sean Fisher, Kathleen Leppert, Bridget Whyte, Norah Fisher, Alison Byrd, Cori Byrd, Rosie Fisher, Anna Fisher, Thomas Carroll Fisher-Heath, Marguerite Fisher-Heath, Timothy Campbell, Michael Campbell, Courtney Campbell, Lily Hodge, Kevin Weber, MaryGrace Weber, Brian Weber, Jack Weber, Calvin Woodard, Patrick Woodard and 12 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his grandson Collin Fisher.
Pat Fisher was deeply loved by all his children and grandchildren for whom he was an extraordinary model of ethical behavior and deep religious faith.
