With the passing of Bud Brown, north Alabama has lost both a fine community leader and great friend. It is probably no exaggeration to say that he and my father, their paths crossing naturally because of being a longtime Decatur minister, probably worked together on literally several hundred funerals. More than once over the years, I heard Dad say: "Bud knows how to do it right." By that he meant a grieving family could rest assured Bud Brown would conduct their loved one's memorial service with professionalism, kindness, promptness, and dignity. Such leadership traits are increasingly rare, yet Bud's example and legacy will continue to inspire us in the years ahead. Please know of our prayers and sympathy during this sad time, and that our family already misses him, too.
