Paul W. Brunelle, 65, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at home. He was the loving husband of Karin A. (Marquis) Brunelle with whom he shared 9 years of marriage.

Born in New Bedford, the son of Henry Brunelle of New Bedford and the late Sylvia (Mendonca) Brunelle, he was a lifelong resident of the city.

Paul served in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam in the 3rd Battalion 26th Marines.

He worked in the maintenance department at St. Luke's Hospital for many years until his retirement.

During his high school years at New Bedford Voke, he was a talented soccer player winning several trophies. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing and he enjoyed watching his favorite New England sports teams. Most of all, he loved and cherished the times shared with his loving family and grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife and father are two daughters, Kerrie Brunelle of New Bedford and Heather Brunelle of Dartmouth; a sister, Patricia Majka and her husband Robert of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Alisha Fernandes and Kyra and Ayana Gomez; nephew and godson, Scott Arruda of New Bedford; a brother-in-law, Steven Silva of Brighton. He was the grandfather of the late Nicholas Wayne Fernandes.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 10am in the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6pm. Burial in Naskatucket Cemetery, Fairhaven. For online tributes and directions please visit: www.rock-funeralhome.com
