Carr, Paul Milton, Jr., age 78 of Elmont and Ashland passed into the arms of God on Oct. 1, 2013. Paul was a beloved husband, dad, granddad, brother and uncle. His outgoing personality and contagious laughter won friends wherever he went. He will be missed by many. Paul is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Hale Carr, 3 daughters, Janet Spencer (Michael), Cindy Weston (Brad) and Sharon Johnson (Brad). Also 6 grandchildren who were always a bright light in his life, Josh, Ben and Amanda Spencer; Cody and Kyle Weston and Anna Johnson, a sister Dorothy Buchanan of Knoxville, TN, and many loving nieces and nephews. Carr, Paul Milton, Jr., age 78 of Elmont and Ashland passed into the arms of God on Oct. 1, 2013. Paul was a beloved husband, dad, granddad, brother and uncle. His outgoing personality and contagious laughter won friends wherever he went. He will be missed by many. Paul is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Hale Carr, 3 daughters, Janet Spencer (Michael), Cindy Weston (Brad) and Sharon Johnson (Brad). Also 6 grandchildren who were always a bright light in his life, Josh, Ben and Amanda Spencer; Cody and Kyle Weston and Anna Johnson, a sister Dorothy Buchanan of Knoxville, TN, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul M. Carr, Sr. and Anna H. Carr, his brother Bobby Carr, and a nephew Web Buchanan, all of Ashland. Paul was a life-long member of Ashland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he served as an elder and unofficial greeter to visitors and all who who would enter. He was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Paul retired in 1992 from Carr Auto Parts which he founded in 1975. He also worked at Walmart for a number of years and later at the Hollows Golf Club where he became an avid golfer. Paul loved people from all walks of life but had a special love for children and youth. He coached boys baseball in the 1970's and coached girls softball in the 70's and 80's. In more recent years Paul was a diligent volunteer at ACES in Ashland. Visitation will be at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway Friday October 4th, 5:00-8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Ashland Christian Church Saturday, October 5th, 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Ashland Christian Church, 301 S. James St., Ashland, VA 23005 or ACES, 507B Caroline St., Ashland, VA 23005.
