Paul V. Kilpatrick, Sr., 97, of Columbus, GA, died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907 with Reverend Robert Beckham officiating. A private interment will be in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Kilpatrick was born May 17, 1915 in Hendersonville, NC, son of the late Zebulon Vance and Esther Fortune Kilpatrick. Mr. Kilpatrick worked for more than 30 years with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He served as the Sales Manager at Salisbury, NC, worked in the Field Training Division in New York, and finally transferred to Columbus, GA where he retired as the Columbus District Sales Manager. Mr. Kilpatrick was a co-founder of the Junior Achievement program of Columbus and Phenix City. He is a former president of the Columbus Life Underwriters Association and served in many different positions with the United Way to include three years on the Appeal Review Board. Mr. Kilpatrick was a charter member and organizer of the Brevard Rotary Club, Brevard, NC, and former member of the Concord Rotary Club, Concord, NC, and Salisbury Rotary Club, Salisbury, NC. He was a former member of the Rotary Club of Columbus and a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents Mr. Kilpatrick was preceded in death by three sisters, Maude K. Holdford, Edith Reid, and Mable K. Clark; one brother, Claude Kilpatrick.
Survivors include his loving wife of 75 years, Anita C. Kilpatrick of Columbus, GA; one daughter, Anita "Pud" K. Stamey and her husband, Dr. Charles C. Stamey of Cataula, GA; one son, Paul Van Kilpatrick, Jr., and his wife, Franny of Columbus, GA; seven grandchildren, Melissa S. Thaxton and her husband, Ralph of Clearwater, FL, Anita "Kiki" S. Lunsford and her husband, Keith of Columbus, GA, Margaret K. Croxson and her husband, Mike of Elliott City, MD, Paul Van Kilpatrick, III and his wife, Eve S. Kilpatrick of Columbus, GA, Charles C. Stamey, Jr., and his wife, Kelly of Cataula, GA, Jenny Stamey of Cataula, GA, and Lea Kilpatrick of Jacksonville, FL; 13 great grandchildren, Amanda M. Guthrie and her husband, Guss, and Megan Moyer, Catie M. Wertenberger and her husband, Justin, Caroline Lunsford-Myhand, Conner Croxson, Bobby Croxson, Madison Croxson, Mary Catherine Stamey, Tripp Stamey, Lillie Kilpatrick, Paul Van Kilpatrick, IV, Jeffrey Bohander, and Sarah Elizabeth Bohlander; three great-great grandchildren, Ava Charles Guthrie, Olivia Grace Baier, and Liam Nathan Lunsford-Myhand; one brother, Zeb V. Kilpatrick of Hendersonville, NC; one sister, Madge K. Waters of Flat Rock, NC.
Our gratitude to Michelle who helped us travel this road with care and kindness. To all Vista Care Hospice, you were a blessing.

I am sorry to hear of Mr kilpatrick's passing. I worked for 17 years at Metropolitan life, and he was my boss. I will not be able to attend the service do to a conflicting duty at my church on each Wed. My sympathy to surviving family memebers is with you..
