Paul Russell Walker, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the age of 84. Paul was a building contractor in Chattanooga for over 40 years. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and played Trombone in the U.S. Army Band from 1953 until 1955. He later formed the Paul Walker Orchestra and played professionally. He began his real estate career as a broker with Case & Walker of Chattanooga. He later formed Walker Associated, developing apartment communities, strip shopping centers, and built over 500 homes in the greater Chattanooga area. Paul Russell Walker, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the age of 84. Paul was a building contractor in Chattanooga for over 40 years.
He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and played Trombone in the U.S. Army Band from 1953 until 1955. He later formed the Paul Walker Orchestra and played professionally.
He began his real estate career as a broker with Case & Walker of Chattanooga. He later formed Walker Associated, developing apartment communities, strip shopping centers, and built over 500 homes in the greater Chattanooga area. He served as President of the Chattanooga Apartment Council and President of the Homebuilders Association.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Edith N. Walker; children Russ Walker and wife, Elena, of New Orleans, Michele Walker Dotson and husband, Clark, of Birmingham, and Laura Walker of Johnson City; two granddaughters, Isabella and Analise Walker; sister, Joanne Walker Blevins; sister-in-law, Anne Walker; and nephews and nieces and their families.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the North Chapel with the Rev. Honorable Sam Payne officiating.
Final resting place will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul's name to the American Heart Association, 519 E. 4th Street, Chattanooga, TN 37403.
