Paul R. Williams, 79, of St. James City passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014. Born February 17, 1934 In Kalamazoo, MI to Frank and Frances Williams, Paul attended Plainwell HS, graduating in 1952. He married Jane Rosenberg in 1952 and they had 61 years together. Paul was active in many civic activities and private clubs such as the Elks Lodge in Otsego, MI, serving in all the chairs and was Exalted Ruler 2 years, serving on the board for many years. Paul retired in 1996 and started spending time in southwest FL during the winters. In 2001 he moved into Pine Island Cove and became active there, serving on the board of directors for 4...
Paul R. Williams, 79, of St. James City passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014. Born February 17, 1934 In Kalamazoo, MI to Frank and Frances Williams, Paul attended Plainwell HS, graduating in 1952. He married Jane Rosenberg in 1952 and they had 61 years together. Paul was active in many civic activities and private clubs such as the Elks Lodge in Otsego, MI, serving in all the chairs and was Exalted Ruler 2 years, serving on the board for many years. Paul retired in 1996 and started spending time in southwest FL during the winters. In 2001 he moved into Pine Island Cove and became active there, serving on the board of directors for 4 years, 3 of which he was president. He was currently president of the Men's Club, an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge.
Paul is survived by 4 sisters and 2 brothers, Jean Hammond of Kalamazoo, Shirley and Jerry Scott of Schoolcraft, Neala and Wesley Godding of Coon Rapids, MN, Charlene and James Nooney of Plainwell, Don and Nancy Williams of Plainwell and James and Sharon Williams of Las Vegas, NV; 2 children Peggy and James Warnez of Plainwell and Paul Williams of Tennessee; 2 grandsons Aaron and Erin Warnez and Daniel and Heidi Warnez of Plainwell; 6 great granddaughters Genevieve, Abigail, Lillian, Kennedy, Sarah and Finley, and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was pre-deceased by his parents, brother Walter, son Daniel and brother-in-law George Hammond.
A memorial service will be held at the Pine Island Cove clubhouse on Saturday, February 8th at 2pm. Donations can be made to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Pkwy., Cape Coral, FL 33909 or Veterans of Foreign Wars on Pine Island, 8150 Stringfellow Rd., St. James City, FL 33956.
