Paula L. Maloy, 82, passed away on January 15th, 2017 following a lifelong struggle with rheumatoid arthritis and more recently, an aggressive form of cancer. She was born on August 26th, 1934 to Coy William Hensley and Kathryn Loraine Ivy Hensley and was a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and devoted her life to them.
Paula was born in Tioga, Texas, where she grew up with her beloved brother, Ron. They moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma when she was a young child, later graduating from Weatherford High School. During high school, she worked at the local drugstore soda fountain and made many friends there. It was in Weatherford where she met her husband of 62 years, Ted, who had returned from the Korean War and was attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University. They married on May 22nd, 1955 and moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma, where Ted worked at Conoco Oil while remaining in the 45th Infantry Reserve Guard Unit. Paula worked as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell until starting a family. They had two children, Mark and Kittie, and she devoted her life to raising them and supporting Ted's careers at Conoco and in the Army Reserve. In the early seventies, she was diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis which was with her for the rest of her life. In 1974, they transferred to Houston with Conoco where they have remained since. Her biggest joys were her children, whether it was taking them to music lessons and concerts, Cub Scouts, beating them in numerous games of late night billiard games, or "supervising" Ted and Mark while they rebuilt classic Ford Mustangs in the garage. She was known for her homemade chocolate and lemon meringue pies which were requested at every major family event.
Paula will be loved forever and never forgotten. She endured her long, painful struggle with arthritis and more recently cancer with utmost grace, courage, and dignity, never complaining and always with a smile.
Paula is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Ted, brother, Ron Hensley and wife Wanda, son, Mark Maloy and wife Dianne, daughter, Kittie Gugenheim and husband Kevin, and treasured grandchildren Eric Maloy and wife Mimi, Paige Maloy, Chase Gugenheim and Jordan Gugenheim. She is also survived by many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, January 21st at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veteran's Memorial Drive in Houston, with the visitation at 12:00 PM followed by the 1:00 PM service and reception. The burial will take place at 1:45 PM on Monday, January 23rd at Houston National Cemetery. The family would like to thank Vicki, Chandeep, and Comfort at Home Care Assistance and the staffs of Treemont Healthcare Center and Colonial Oaks Westchase for their devoted care. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there is a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

Kittie,
My condolences to you, Kevin and your families. I'm sure this is a difficult time for you.
While I never had the opportunity to meet your mother, based on her body of work (producing and raising you) she must have been a wonderful lady. Based on our conversations, I know you were extremely proud of her and I suspect she was unbelievably proud of you. She is definitely living on through you, not only in personality & character but in looks.
What a wonderful, full life. My prayers are with you.
Scott
