Born February 8, 1931 on a farm in LeRoy, MI to Harry and Mary Werner; Pauline Yvonne Aven passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the age of 79. She retired from the State of Michigan after 30+ years of service. An avid and accomplished quilter, she left hand-crafted heirlooms for each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Karl. Both Karl & Pauline were charter and life-long members of University Lutheran Church. She is survived by her three sons, Richard of New York, NY, Dennis (Tracy) of DeWitt, and Doug (Cindy) of Haslett; her three granddaughters, Stephanie (Scott) Kazmierski of Walled Lake, Lindsay (Justin) Kobolt of Kansas City, MO, and Amanda Aven of Haslett; step-grandsons, Kyle and Tyler Armour of DeWitt; two great-grandsons, Jackson Kazmierski & Carson Kobolt; brother Forrest (Lee) Werner of LeRoy, MI; sisters, Katherine (Bill) Zurakowski of East Detroit, and Fran (Donald) Alquire of Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing. A memorial service will be held at University Lutheran Church, 1020 S. Harrison Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823, Monday, March 15, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to University Lutheran Church, or Hospice of Lansing, 4052 Legacy Parkway, Suite 200, Lansing, MI 48911 in memory of Pauline. Jo and I are so sorry to learn of the passing of your Mom. She sounded like a wonderful person. It is never easy, but with time, it will become easier to accept. She really is in a better place and will continue to watch over you and yours, until you join her.
