Vale – Pauline Reynolds Rudisill, 95, passed away Saturday August 24, 2013 after a period of declining health. Pauline was born September 7, 1917 in Wilkes County, Georgia to the late John Reynolds and Rosalia Hildebran Reynolds. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Voyt Rudisill, and brothers and sisters, Vance Reynolds, Arvil "Joe" Reynolds, Beatrice Pons, Paulie "Dick" Reynolds, Lena Hoyle, Johnny Reynolds, Bonnie Walker and two infant children. Surviving are her nephews and nieces Steve Brittain and his wife, Norma, of Vale, Glenn Rhoney of Vale, Julie Brittain of Connelly Springs, a sister, Josephine Brittain, of Connelly Springs, a sister-in-law, Evelyn Reynolds, of Connelly Springs, and numerous other nieces and nephews. She loved her church and Sunday School Class at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Vale. She is a past-recipient of the United Methodist Church Laity Service Award. Pauline and her late husband, Voyt, started Cooksville Hosiery Mill in the late 1930s. Pauline served as President of Cooksville Hosiery after the death of her husband until closing in 2006. She was a well-respected business woman in the hosiery industry and was recipient of the Catawba Valley Hosiery Association's 1994 Distinguished Service Award. Her contributions included donating original property and funding for the Cooksville Volunteer Fire Department. She was a founder and life member of the Cooksville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. In 2011, she donated additional property and real estate to the Fire Department. She also donated property for the Hickory Rescue Squad Base 2 in the Banoak Community. In 1988, she formed the Voyt Rudisill Scholarship Foundation at CVCC which has benefited numerous students. In 2007 she formed the Voyt and Pauline Rudisill Adventure Program Scholarship through the CVCC Foundation Inc. Pauline's special interests included the "little children" in her family as well as her beloved dog "Brownie". The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 27, at 3:00 P. M. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Sayer officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the servcie. Pallbearers will be Scott Brittain, Alan Brittain, Jeffrey Rhoney, Jason Rhoney, Travis Cook, and John Reynolds. Musicians will be Tyler Young and Timothy Laxton. Interment will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. Special thanks to her nephew, Steve Brittain, many other nieces and nephews, and the caregivers at Home Instead and Hospice who enabled her to remain at home through her declining health.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton NC 28658, or Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 8840 Cooksville Rd, Vale, NC 28168.

It is really sad to hear about Pauline's passing, she was an fine example to all with a great business mind and work ethic to go with it. She was respected by all in the hosiery industry and will be missed.

Mrs. Rudisill was respected by her peers in the hosiery industry. She was a leader who possessed business acumen and demonstrated a sense of fairness and commitment to her associates. She was a model for entrepreneurs. Paul Fogleman

Paulines smile will be greatly missed. She loved simple things like a good cake of cornbread and pot of home cooked pinto beans. We talked for hours on end, and she had many great stories to share. Her love for family was evident in all she did. My thoughts and prayers are with all her extended family, and the other health care providers who were fortunate enough to spend time with her in this life.
