Peggie G Flanagan Wilbur, age 81, formerly of Kimball, WV, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Main Street Care Nursing Home, Hinton, WV.
Born April 5, 1936, at Helen, WV, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Ethel M. Cox Flanagan.
Prior to her illness, Peggie was a member of Houston United Methodist Church in Kimball, where she served as youth leader, was a member of the United Methodist Women and served as choir director for over 35 years. She participated in several music, civic and charitable organizations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Richard G. Wilbur; grandchildren, Max and Alexandra McGinnis; three sisters, Hazel (Rodney) Shupe, Virginia (Dillard) Bradbury and Betty (Bill) Watkins; and five brothers, Frank (Mabel), Sam (Betty), Clifford “Buster”, James, and Charles Flanagan; brothers-in-law William (Nancy), James, Walter and Charles Wilbur.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Malinda Thacker and husband Dan of Beckley and Lisa McGinnis and husband Tom of Eccles; three grandsons, Nicholas Thacker and wife Kelly of Irmo, SC, Joel Thacker and wife Ashley of Scott Depot, and Jeremy McGinnis and wife Sarah of Beckley; three great-grandchildren, Evan and Emmalyn Thacker and Marina McGinnis; sisters-in-law Margaret Flanagan and Barbara Ripley; brothers-in-law, Robert (Eva) and Gene (Laverne) Wilbur; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Furman) Dailey, Jane (George) McCoy, Mary, Lois and Faye Wilbur; longtime family friend, Edward Kerr and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 3 PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Dr. Sharon Miller and Rev. Carl Sellards officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to St Mary’s United Methodist Church, PO Box 3432, Beckley, WV 25801 or a charity of your choice.
