Peggie Pierce, 83, a faithful child of God went home July 19, 2014. Peggie was born March 13, 1931, in Goldsboro, TX and was the daughter of the late Adrian and Thelma Harris of Oklahoma City. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Harris (1980), her daughter Julie Sue Pierce (1991) and great grandson Pierce Cartwright (2013). Peggie was a dedicated wife and loving mother of four children. Peggie Pierce, 83, a faithful child of God went home July 19, 2014. Peggie was born March 13, 1931, in Goldsboro, TX and was the daughter of the late Adrian and Thelma Harris of Oklahoma City. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Harris (1980), her daughter Julie Sue Pierce (1991) and great grandson Pierce Cartwright (2013).
Peggie was a dedicated wife and loving mother of four children. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Don; daughters Donna and Randy Cartwright of Ocean Springs, MS, and Mary Kaye Pierce and Ken McNees of Broomfield, CO, son, Danny and Jennifer Pierce of Maryville, TN; grandchildren Jennifer and husband Frank Ferguson, Matthew and wife Jennifer Cartwright, Jeremy, Sean, Julie and Natalie McNees, Adrian and Wyatt Pierce; great-grandchildren Addison Ferguson, Daniel and Sam Cartwright; brother, Raymond and Marti Harris of Oklahoma City, nephew Raymond Mac Harris and nieces Nikki Lilje Catherine Allen, Cindi Walls, Sharla Saunders, nephews, Robert Harris, Jeffery Harris, Andrew Pierce, Kenneth Pierce, and Jerramye Rockley.
Peggie was a 1949 graduate of Central High School in Oklahoma City where she played drums in the Drum and Bugle Corps and marching band. Peggie was a switch board operator at Bell Telephone after high school. While Don was in the service during the Korean War, they were stationed in Anchorage, Alaska; or as Peggie like to say they lived as pioneers there. She and Don were part owners of Phipps Appliance until opening one of the first video rental stores in the country, Kaleidoscope Video.
She was a member of The Village Christian Church. Peggie enjoyed quilting, reading, traveling, horse racing and spending time with her family. She and Don traveled the world. They had spent time annually in Hot Springs, AR, since the 1950's. Don and Peggie were avid OSU fans, Go Pokes! Don Pierce & family appreciates all the support of our family and friends.
Visitation at 1 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Village Christian Church, 9401 Ridgeview Dr., with interment following in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Peggie's memory to Village Christian Church.
