Peggy Hamilton Moore, 81, of Greenville, NC passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 in her home at Carillon of North Raleigh. Peggy was born on October 22, 1932 to Julian Hamilton, Sr. and Katherine Norcom Hamilton, in Burgaw, NC. She grew up in Beaufort, NC and graduated from Beaufort High School. She attended East Carolina Teachers College and during that time while visiting Atlantic Beach she met her soul mate and love of her life, Phil Moore. Peggy Hamilton Moore, 81, of Greenville, NC passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 in her home at Carillon of North Raleigh. Peggy was born on October 22, 1932 to Julian Hamilton, Sr. and Katherine Norcom Hamilton, in Burgaw, NC. She grew up in Beaufort, NC and graduated from Beaufort High School. She attended East Carolina Teachers College and during that time while visiting Atlantic Beach she met her soul mate and love of her life, Phil Moore. They were married on January 31, 1953 in Beaufort, NC. Upon their marriage she moved to Greenville, NC and graduated with her Teacher's Certificate.

Peggy was a dedicated and longtime member of Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church. Over the years she loved singing in the Chancel Choir and was a loyal member of the Jarvis Methodist Women's Circle 3. She was also a member of the Garden Club and was a Cub Scout Den Leader. Peggy was a loving homemaker and gracious hostess who volunteered her time in many ways to many people. Her personality was one of loyalty, honesty and her heart was open to everyone. Peggy's willingness to listen and have comfortable conversation with everyone led her to work part time as an interviewer with the US Census Bureau and the University of Michigan. Peggy will be remembered as a dedicated loving wife, mom, grandma and friend who cared deeply about her family, friends and strangers. She will be greatly missed by everyone blessed to have known her.

Peggy is preceded in death by husband and soul mate of 59 years, Phil Moore; oldest son, William Phillip Moore, III; brothers, Julian Hamilton, Jr. and Charles Thomas Hamilton and her parents.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Julia Moore Morris and husband Chris of Raleigh, NC; son, Lee Hamilton Moore and his fiancé Stephanie Connor of Greenville, NC; grandsons, William Christopher Morris and Michael Joseph Morris of Raleigh, NC and numerous other family members and friends.

The family would like express a special "Thank you" to Lois Cannon of Greenville, NC and Carillon Assisted Living of Knightdale and North Raleigh for their excellent and loving care.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church, 510 S. Washington St., Greenville, NC 27858. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church, 510 S. Washington St., Greenville, NC 27858.
