Peggy Rodgers, Pontotoc
Peggy Lynn Rodgers, age 71, died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was a member of West Heights Baptist Church, a graduate of Pontotoc High School Class of 1958 and received a Bachelor's degree in Education from MS College in 1962. She taught in DeSoto County for 16 years and Memphis City Schools for 11 years before retiring. She enjoyed music, playing the piano and was a loving and giving person.
Services will be at 11 AM Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at West Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Ryan Rodgers and Dr. David Hamilton officiating; burial will follow in the West Heights Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one sister: Betty Gail Kirk of Ripley,MS, one brother: Billy Clay Rodgers (Rhonda) of Pontotoc, MS, a special friend: Gloria Lanoux of Pontotoc, MS, four nephews: Chuck Kirk (Kristie) of Peachtree City, GA, Brennan Kirk (Melissa) of Ripley,MS, Martin Rodgers (Jennifer) of Pontotoc,MS and Ryan Rodgers of New Orleans, LA; seven great nieces and nephews: Dustin Schaefer, Duncan Schaefer, Andrew Rodgers, Rebecca Grace Rodgers, Caleb Kirk, Olivia Joy Kirk and Asher Kirk; host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry Clay Rodgers and Janice Charlene Tutor Rodgers and two nieces: Jannelyn Kirk Schaefer and Lorie Gaillynn Kirk.
Pallbearers will be: Martin Rodgers, Brennan Kirk, Joey Rodgers, Mike Rodgers, Ken Rodgers and David Rodgers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home and from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday at West Heights Baptist Church.
