Pete Anselmo, 83, of Groves, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 at his home. He was born on July 1, 1928 to Charles V. and Angelina Anselmo in Port Arthur.

Pete was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur, a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He married Dorothy Simoneaux on September 4, 1949 in Port Arthur. Pete was one of the organizers of the American-Italian Cultural Club and the first president of the club as well as the first St. Joseph Altar and Co-Chairman of three other altars. He was Chairman of the Immigrant Wall Committee and served as a Eucharistic minister for many years at Immaculate Conception. Pete was a very busy man, never idle, yet never wanted to take full credit for the many tasks and projects he helped to bring about. He retired after 34 years from Texaco Chemical.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Joseph Anselmo, Earnest Anselmo and a sister, Josephine Valenciano.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Anselmo of Port Arthur and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

A gathering of his family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. in the Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home Chapel, Port Arthur.

A Mass of Christian Burial will at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American-Italian Club, 767 Cherokee, Port Neches, TX 77651 or any charitable organization of your choice.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the employees of New Century Hospice for their considerate and loving care for Pete in addition to the special care provided by his caretakers, Avery and Fannie.

"I will be looking forward to seeing your smiling face on the "other side" my friend. Thanks for all the kindness and good memories that were created so..." Tommy Hodges (Bastrop, TX)
