Peter passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Hopewell House on December 1. He was born on March 21, 1939, in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Mildred (Fisher) and Ralph S. Daniels. He graduated from LaSalle Academy in Providence in 1956. After high school he joined the United States Marine Corps and served on the USS Macon and as a U.S. Embassy guard in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After the Marine Corps, he returned to Providence, where he met his wife, Judy (Quirk). They were married in Cranston, RI, and celebrated their fiftieth anniversary on February 16, 2013. They moved to Michigan for a few years while he worked for Grinnell Sprinkler Company. Peter then returned to Providence to study architecture at Rhode Island School of Design, where he taught the transfer-student orientation classes during the summers, and served as the student body president.
After his graduation from RISD in 1972, the family moved to Lake Oswego, where Peter joined BOORA Architects, and remained with the firm for 15 years. He also worked for Milstead & Associates, a construction and project management firm, and Oregon Health Sciences University, as the Associate Director of Construction and Design Services. He was a registered architect and active in the Construction Specifications Institute. He specialized in hospitals, public buildings and fire code. As an Architecture and Construction Project Manager he lead numerous projects throughout the Portland area, notably; Meridian Park Hospital, Mt. Hood Medical Center, The Chinese Garden, the downtown Port of Portland Bldg, The Performing Arts Center, Nike World Headquarters, the PERS Bldg, OMSI, and the Sky Bridge between OHSU and the VA hospital. During his children's school years he was active in the Our Lady of the Lake Parish, Boy Scouts, and their schools.
Pete retired in 2001. Since then he devoted much time to his grandkids and golf. He was a starter at the Lake Oswego Municipal Course. His favorite Hitchcock movie was "The Trouble with Harry."
He is survived by his wife, Judy, of Lake Oswego, and his four children: Brian Daniels and his wife, Patricia, of Lake Oswego; Anne Daniels Kegerreis of Racine, WI; Michael Daniels and his wife, Kimberly, of Vancouver, WA; and Megan Daniels and her husband, Mike Arace, of West Linn. He also leaves a brother, Ralph S. Daniels, of Providence, RI, a sister, Barbara Tally, of Brookline, MA, and ten grandchildren. Peter was also the brother of Stephen M. Daniels of Cranston, RI, who passed away just six days earlier than Pete.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday December 6th at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Oswego.

To Judy and your family, Renie and I send our deepest sympathy for your loss.
Pete was a special member of our group of 10 who started with Grinnell so many years ago. He always had a way of being present whenever a good thing was happening. Our many miles between us kept us from staying in touch but fond memories of all we went through together will be his legacy with me.
Take comfort that he no longer has any pain or sorrow.

DEC 5th, 2013:
Reality is difficult to accept, & this is a tough one for me. Somehow you just don't expect such sadness all @'once. losing Stephen, was a shock & then Peter, not even knowing he was sick, was a heart stabbing shock. Two brothers, 3 years apart & dying within 3 days of each other, certainly a difficult time for his family & relatives & childhood friends.
I'm sure you will be accepted with open arms by those who loved you & went before you, and now hopefully keep an eye on all those left behind, who loved you. For all the things, I never said to you, I LOVE YOU & WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE TIMES WE SHARED GROWING UP IN PROV., R.I.
LOVE: Connie (Ryan) & Dan Carroll & Family.

Sending prayers and love to Judy and all of the Daniels kids and their families. Pete was a good neighbor during our years in Lake Oswego and it was fun to watch all of you grow up. Bevie and Geoff and I look fondly on our years in the neighborhood and all the good and happy times we shared.
What a legacy Pete has left all of us in Oregon. I remember those long-ago days when Meridian Park Hospital was just being constructed and it looks like that was the beginning of so many public buildings that will be long remembered by all of us.
May God be good to him.
