Peter Frank Rocco died August 30, 2014. Peter was born December 30, 1923, in Ann Arbor, MI to Carmella (Bonta) and Domenic Rocco. He graduated from Saint Thomas High School in 1942. He was employed from 1942-1945 at Ford Willow Run. In 1945, he joined the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier and retired in 1979. Peter was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Parish, and an usher there for over 35 years. A Life Member of The Knights of Columbus Council # 587, and served as the financial secretary for 24 years. Peter Frank Rocco died August 30, 2014. Peter was born December 30, 1923, in Ann Arbor, MI to Carmella (Bonta) and Domenic Rocco. He graduated from Saint Thomas High School in 1942. He was employed from 1942-1945 at Ford Willow Run. In 1945, he joined the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier and retired in 1979. Peter was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Parish, and an usher there for over 35 years. A Life Member of The Knights of Columbus Council # 587, and served as the financial secretary for 24 years. For 30 years, he was a board member of the Postal Credit Union, serving as President for eight years, and Vice President for 12 years. Peter was also a board member of the Washtenaw County Historical Society for over 20 years. He married Janet Wilson in 1953, and she preceded him in death in 1984. His daughter, Christina Marie preceded him in death in 1994. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Chiara Santa Maria, Angie (Howard) Gelenius, and Connie (Leonard) Motsinger; also brothers, Charles (Mary), Angelo (Shirley) and James (Judy). Peter married Kathlyn Faye Maw in 1986, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Catherine (Rudolph) Cender; and his grandchildren, Kaitlin, Anna, and Peter Cender. As well as stepdaughters, Kathi Ames and Cindy (Earl) Mosher, and their children. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Mary and Judy, and many nieces, nephews and their families. Pete lived a long, full, and until not that long ago active life. Pete was a life long Tiger's baseball and U of M football fan. In his younger days, he enjoyed golfing and for years was on a bowling league. He was an avid reader with a passion for history, a love of art and photography. He loved music and enjoyed dancing. Peter always put family and faith first. He was a devoted husband, loving father, the most proud and best Grandpa ever. He will be very dearly missed. There will be a Memorial Mass at Saint Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church on Monday September 8, 2014 at 10 AM. Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Saint Thomas Heritage Fund.
