Peter L. Wood, 53 of Boston MA, died suddenly Wednesday night October 24th 2012 at Cape Cod Hospital. Born May 16th 1959, he was the son of the late Norman E. Wood Sr., and Theresa F. (Monteiro)Wood. He was the youngest of seven siblings; a son first; brother, godson, nephew, cousin, uncle, husband, father, beloved grandfather, and dear friend. Peter was an incredible man with many talents, and dreams. Peter attended Saint Johns Grammar School, and was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Boston. He also attended U-Mass Dartmouth, and soon after was hired as an accountant for Carter & Rice. At the age of 23 he began working for the M.B.T.A. for 26 years up to his retirement. He then relocated residentially to Cape Cod, and continued his occupation driving as a seasoned Nantucket tour guide for Hy-Line, and bus driver for Cape Destinations. His acclaimed talents exploded in the arts on-stage acting, during and throughout his late teens, to his early twenty's, and music was always in his blood. He was known for his funky charismatic personality, and never forgot to use his voice. He was a former lead singer of the acclaimed local New England musical group Silkwood, a family musical group consisting of originating members including his brothers and daughter. If "Pete" wasn't working, he was singing, and often would mention, that there was no distinction between the two. Peter had a comedic fun side to him, but also a forever-sincere kindness that defined him as a man who believed that family is the most important thing, and the principle of heritage and legacy should always be preserved, and more importantly... He was truly an all out great man. Who will be forever missed, and always remembered…
Peter was well loved by everyone that knew him; family, friends, and his co-workers. He is survived by his brothers; Norman E. Wood Jr. of Boston, Dwight F. Wood of Boston, Michael R. Wood of Hyannis, Steven B. Wood of Hyannis, and his loving sisters, Marie E. Askew-Lee of Everett, and his beloved late sister Patricia A. Wood-Lawrence of Boston. His mother, Theresa F. (Monteiro) Wood of South Dennis, his wife Kim Gomez of Yarmouth, and his children; Keith R. Wood, Kandice T. Wood, Khery N. Wood, Shaquan D. Robinson, Sean D. Robinson, and his grandchild Aleyah R. Wood. Along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, sister and brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many friends. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home 160 W. Main St., Hyannis. Visitation wil be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service. Burial to follow in South Dennis Congregational Cemetery, South Dennis.
