Security Industry Leader passes away
ANDERSON, PHILIP JOHN, of Brandon, Florida passed away April 10, 2012.
Son of the late John and Isobell Anderson, Philip was born in Boston,
Massachusetts on December 22, 1940. In addition to his parents, Phil was
preceded in death by his brother John, a sister Joan and his son Philip John, Jr.
Philip Anderson spent his life managing contract security companies, both large
and small and some international. During his career he owned security companies
totaling over 300 employees. Phil never forgot what it was like just starting out
and helped dozens of his fledgling competitors learn along the way. Phil was the
founding father of the only non-profit association in Washington State for
contractors and owners of contract security companies. First launched in 1983 as
NW Security Executives it is now known as the Washington State Security
Council, Inc. Since its founding this organization has been lead by top forward
thinking security practitioners codifying the very first State legislation and laws
requiring State mandated training and FBI finger print criminal background
inspections. Today over 200 companies in the state must meet these requirements
to obtain a license.
Phil contributed his love of life, laughter and fellowship as a member of
International Footprint Association 17 and the Keystone Kops. As such, he
proudly donned his Keystone Kops uniform to participate in the many activities
sponsoring Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Clubs and other organizations
helping children in need. Phil built many friendships in the Seattle and Brandon
areas and will be deeply missed by all. He passed away quietly in retirement of
heart complications at the age of 71.He leaves behind sons Sean David of Renton,
TroyM (Debbie) of Newcastle; a daughter Sandra Lee Hunt (Steven) of Renton,
his grandchildren Devin and Torey Anderson and newest granddaughter, Charlotte Marie Hunt.
Additionally, he leaves behind the love of his life, his significant other, Pamela Ammons, nee
Cooper. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Requiem Mass will
be said at St. Matthews Anglican Church, Riverview, Florida at a future date.
Condolences can be sent to Ms Ammons of 618 Oak Ridge, Brandon Florida
33510. To honor his dedication to helping children, donations can be made in his
name to The Special Olympics. Arrangements have been made through Stowers
Funeral Home, Brandon, Florida
