Philip Joel "Andy" Anderson was born to Eugene and Doris Anderson in Coronado, CA on January 21, 1953.

He was raised in San Diego and lived here most of his life. Growing up, he was active in scouting, little league, and church activities.

After graduating from high school and attending college, Philip enjoyed traveling across the United States and Europe. He was passionate about politics, the environment, animal rights, numerous social causes, and solving crossword puzzles and was an enthusiastic Chargers and Padres fan!

Philip was employed as a carpenter for various contractors and later became employed by the San Diego Unified Port District. He retired from the Port District in 2011 after 18 years of service.

He had been an active member of Lemon Grove Lutheran Church for 50 years, serving as a Sunday school teacher, usher, and other positions.

Philip was a very caring and devoted father, brother, uncle, and friend and proud grandpa to his newborn granddaughter, Caliana. He will forever be remembered for his generosity, his kind heart, and his "punny" sense of humor.

He passed away suddenly on November 6, 2012 at the age of 59 at Sharp Grossmont Hospital surrounded by his family.

Philip is survived by his daughter Sarah (Pablo) Baxter, granddaughter Caliana Baxter, sister Marlys (Rick) Smith, nephew Daniel Smith, niece Melinda Smith, stepdaughters Diane LaChusa and Danielle LaChusa, as well as many close and lifelong friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 12pm at Lemon Grove Lutheran Church, 2055 Skyline Drive, Lemon Grove, CA 91945.
