Philip S. Bennett, Sr., 88, passed away May 7th. He was born April 16, 1926 in Hornell, NY to Mary Ellen (Sheon) and William E. Bennett.
He served in the Army in WW II and was honorably discharged in January, 1946. Phil married Ann – Elizabeth F. Robbins in 1948 and they moved to Deland, FL where he attended Stetson College of Law and graduated in February, 1954. A goal he strived to attain was to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States of America which he achieved in January, 1996.
He was a member in good standing in the Tallahassee Elks #937, Tallahassee Moose Lodge 1075, and the American Legion Post 13.
He enjoyed the practice of law for 44 years along with his other pursuits of fishing, hunting, and woodworking.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ann and a granddaughter. He is survived by two sons, Philip S. Bennett, Jr. (Sharon) and Michael D. Bennett, Sr. (Jo Anne) both of Tallahassee, FL, and a daughter Stephanie A. Bennett of Lake City, FL, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Culley's MeadowWood Riggins Road Chapel on Saturday, May 17th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00pm. Interment will take place at Roselawn Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Tallahassee, FL.

I worked for Phil at FDOT. There was never a dull moment when working with him. I especially enjoyed it when he and Bjarne Anderson discussed the rules and regulations as they both were Stetson Law School graduates.
The last time I saw him was in Publix and he was very upset, having recently lost his wife.
