Obituary

Philip August Hoffman of Acworth, GA passed away peacefully February 4th, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Charlotte Hoffman and his brother Don Hoffman. Phil was born in Baltimore, MD on November 26, 1939, the eldest of 6 children. He graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute before joining the US Marine Corps in 1959 and was assigned to Headquarters Marine in Arlington, VA in counter-intelligence. Phil met his loving and devoted wife Weegie, in 1960 at a church youth retreat. They were married in 1962 and welcomed first daughter, Brenda in 1968. Phil, Weegie and Brenda relocated to Charlotte, NC in 1970...
Philip August Hoffman of Acworth, GA passed away peacefully February 4th, 2013. He was preceded in
death by his parents, August and Charlotte Hoffman and his brother Don Hoffman.

Phil was born in Baltimore, MD on November 26, 1939, the eldest of 6 children. He graduated from Baltimore
Polytechnic Institute before joining the US Marine Corps in 1959 and was assigned to Headquarters
Marine in Arlington, VA in counter-intelligence. Phil met his loving and devoted wife Weegie, in
1960 at a church youth retreat. They were married in 1962 and welcomed first daughter, Brenda in
1968. Phil, Weegie and Brenda relocated to Charlotte, NC in 1970 where there were joined by
another daughter, Marcie. The family moved to Marietta, GA in 1977 and joined Holy Trinity Lutheran
Church. Phil volunteered countless hours of his time serving in multiple roles, most importantly as
Church Council President. Phil had successful careers in both computer sales and real estate. Phil
was a proud member of Temple Masonic Lodge 676.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years Weegie, daughters Brenda Murphy and Marcie
Hoffman, son in law Larry Murphy, grandchildren Casey and Zack Tucker, Travis Fox, Brandy and Matt
Mongeau, Brad Murphy and Crystal Hoffman; sisters Carole Frederick, Shotsie Mayfield and Elaine
Pinkus, brother Ken Hoffman and their spouses; multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces and
nephews.

Phil's memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Marietta (2922 Sandy Plains
Road) on February 16th at 10am, Pastor Ron Grunke officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be
made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church columbarium fund. Please designate your gift as
"columbarium".
