.Philip Henry Myers was the third child born to Clarence Edward and Beulah Whitmore Myers of Berkley County West Virginia, on September 17, 1923. His childhood on the family dairy farm ended when he enlisted in WWII. Philip returned to the states with his bride, Simone Marie Reis, of Liege, Belgium. His military career spanned three decades and included three wars – WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. He graduated from The University of Maryland, College Park, with a Bachelor's degree in Military Science. After retiring from the Army in 1974 at the rank of full Colonel, Phil enjoyed retail management with Sanger Harris Dept. Stores and Hillcrest Office Products, before settling into a second career with The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church, a community volunteer, and his friends remember him as having a great sense of humor. His advice for life was, "Attitude determines altitude!" and "Keep your powder dry, and when you fire, fire for effect!"Phil never remarried after losing Simone in 1970. He is survived by their two daughters, Ms. Susan Myers Swander and Ms. Carolyn Myers McCormick, and his son-in-law Mr. Jeffrey John McCormick, of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter Ms. Courtney Swander Fensterle and her husband Mr. Christopher James Fensterle and their two daughters Eleanor Paige and Katherine Ryan of Bradenton, Florida; grandson Mr. Jason Reis Swander and his wife Kirsten Anne Frasse and their two children Jacob Reis and KylerGrace Anne of Charleston, South Carolina; grandson Mr. Sean Maxwell McCormick, and granddaughter Ms. Mary Margaret McCormick and her fiancé Mr. Colin Miller Danko, of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by devoted niece and great niece Mary Donna Kilmer of Martinsburg, West Virginia and Ms. Tracy Kilmer Clagett of La Plata, Maryland, respectively. In lieu of flowers, Philip's daughters respectfully suggest memorial donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
