Phyllis Levesque, 86, a lifelong resident of Norwich, passed away Thursday evening, October 6, 2016, at the Residential Health Care Facility of Chenango Memorial Hospital. Phyllis was born in Norwich on February 3, 1930 the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Taranto) Garofalo. She has lived her entire life in Norwich where she attended the Norwich schools. She began work at an early age at the Norwich Mill where she worked until her marriage to Orele "Pete" Levesque on October 15, 1966. After a short time in Spring Valley NY the couple returned to Norwich for the birth of their son. She was a lifelong member and communicant of St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church. Phyllis is survived by her son Oneil Joseph Levesque and wife Angela of Norwich, her sister Josephine Jones of Norwich, her grandchildren Brie, Kegan and Levi Levesque and her sister-in-law Marilyn Garofalo. Many nieces and nephews also survived. Besides her husband Orele, Phyllis was predeceased by her siblings Angelina DeLucia, Rose Forester, Grace Garofalo, Joanne Smith, Nancy Garofalo, John Garofalo and George Garofalo. A Mass of Christian Burial for Phyllis will be held on Friday, October 14, at 10:30 am from St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Ralph A. Bove, pastor of the church. will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery. Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 9-10 am. The Recitation of the Rosary will be on Friday at 8:45 am.
