Phyllis Roberta (Taylor) Dalton, 81, of Vincennes, passed away Saturday September 17, 2011 at the New Willow Manor. She was born August 16, 1930 in Bruceville to the late W. Phillip and Christina (Williams) Taylor and has lived her entire life in the Knox County area. Phyllis graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1949 and retired from Good Samaritan Hospital in 1995 where she had worked for 21 years as a nurse's aid. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ . She was a devoted and loving mother, and grandmother. Her family always came first in her life. She loved doing word search puzzles and crochet.
Phyllis leaves behind a daughter Roberta McKinley and her husband David, of Vincennes, a son, Sam Dalton and his wife Kelly, of Carmel, 4 sisters, Betty L. Miley, Shirley Black and her husband Donald, Ernestine Willis and her husband Paul all of Vincennes and Wilma Archer and her husband Don of Lavista, Nebraska. Phyllis was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Christopher E. Roberts, Tyler D. McKinley, Patrick T. Dalton and Claire E. Dalton, 21 nieces and nephews and several great and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Sam T. Dalton, Jr. in 1978, 3 brothers, Joe, John and James Taylor and a sister Catherine Threlkeld.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday in Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home 505 Main Street with the Rev. Dr. Kate Lambertson officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Memorial park Cemetery with her husband. Friends may visit and share memories of Phyllis with the family on Monday from Noon until the service time at the funeral home.

Roberta,we are so sorry that you have loss your mom,grandma,aunt,sister,and a great friend..she was a wonderful lady!! I know its really hard on you & your family for the loss of your momma,we had some great times when we would go out to her home,and just sit around in the nice weather & just visit you,your momma,and Ty!! We were so very blessed that we got you know your Momma...U know when God wanted to pick a flower he had picked the best flower of Vincennes...My heart aches Roberta because Ms Phyllis a great lady & a great friend to know...We Love & Miss you Ms.Phyllis always!!
