Mrs. Phyllis Ann Brown Wise, 77 of China Grove, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday August 17, 2013 at her residence. Born on November 26, 1935 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late John Brice and Helen M. Cook Brown. A graduate of Landis High School, she was previously a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church and was attending West Park Baptist Church before she became ill. Professionally, Mrs. Wise retired from General Motors as an autoworker. Her hobbies and interests were collecting pottery and antiques. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Reece E. Wise Jr. in 2004, a daughter; Jacqueline Yvonne Upright and brother; Charles Newell Brown Sr. Those left to cherish her memory is her son Reece E. Wise III of China Grove and daughter Carmen Ann Gunthrie of Colorado. She is also survived by a brother John Brown Jr. of Salisbury and sister Gail Haire of China Grove. She had 3 grandchildren, Tera Rattz, Erin Upright and Joshua Lewis, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-8 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral on Wednesday at 11:00 also at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Carver, minister. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to attend Phyllis' funeral today. While funerals are in many ways sad occasions, they are for me sometimes happy occasions because I get to see many relatives that I don't often see and remember the good times had in the past. I know the family will miss Phyllis and I will have you all in my thoughts.
