Phyllis Woodard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 7, 2014.

Phyllis Marie Woodard passed peacefully on December 17th, 2014 at Richland Life Care Center in Richland, Washington.
Phyllis was born in Smithers, B.C., Canada, March 1st, 1928 where she lived with her family until moving to Vancouver, B.C. after completing High School to pursue a degree in Accounting.

She met and married her husband of 59 years, Lane B. Woodard, on November 21st, 1953 who left us in July of 2011.
Phyllis, Lane and their son Dwayne lived in Seattle until relocating to Yakima in 1961, where they spent the following 50 years until moving to the Tri-Cities in fall of 2009 to be closer to their grandchildren.

During her years while living in Yakima she was a long time employee of Yakima County Treasures, and Yakima Valley Community College as an Accountant until retirement.

She was involved in many social and charitable organizations; County Retirees, Women's Bowling Association, Special Olympics and various activities at Westpark United Methodist Church, where she attended many years.

Phyllis was also an avid sports enthusiast. Even though she grew up with a passion for playing and loving Hockey she rarely missed a Yakima Bears or Seattle Mariners game. She also won many prestigious awards for her incredible Bowling Skills.

Phyllis was a woman who possessed many qualities. She was a grandmother, mother, sister, daughter, and an unforgettable friend to many. Her greatest quality she left behind to the world was her unconditional generosity, love and kindness to all that knew her.

Her greatest love and dedication was spent on her son and grandchildren, who will always reap the benefits of having this wonderful woman in their lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Childhood Cancer Research Center at Kadlec Hospital in Richland, Washington.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents Percy and Phyllis Davidson, sister Margaret Davidson and husband Lane B. Woodard.

She is survived by her brother Jim Davidson and many family members from Smithers, B.C., Canada. Son Dwayne C. Woodard and wife Billi Cameron of Tri-cities, and grandchildren Dawndee, Jordan, Hope, and Jackson Woodard, all of Tri-Cities. Also survived in life are many lifelong friends; Elma Elliot of Vancouver, B.C., Robin and Michelle Purcell of Vancouver, Marvin, and Isabelle Taylor of Seattle, Washington, and Vonnie Reeves of Yakima, Washington.

The family would like to extended generous thanks to Life Care Center of Richland, Wa for the special care given to her in her final days, and to Steve and Janet Gairison for being the most gracious neighbors.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 9, 2014 at Keith and Keith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday Jan 10 also at Keith and Keith Funeral Home with burial following at Tahoma Cemetery. To share a memory, visit www.keithandkeith.com.

What a wonderful tribute to a very special lady.....the photos of her life are wonderful. Thank you for sharing them. I only spoke to Phyllis once in regards to her husband Lane's family but I will never forget how kind and generous she was with me.
