P.C. "Cheno" Arviso(1912-2010)
P.C. "Cheno" Arviso, 97, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, February 26, 2010. Cheno was born on August 17, 1912 in Laguna Damn, Arizona. He was the youngest of 25 children and notably first cousin to Ceasar Chavez.

Cheno, being a man of strong faith, he attended Immaculate Conception Church. He led many prayer groups within the Catholic Community. Cheno instilled in his family a sense of accomplishment and responsibility. He began working at the age of 7 in the cotton fields in the Gila Valley. He worked for the railroad, Bureau of Reclamation, and finished as a Cement Mason where he participated in the building of the Hoover and Imperial Dams. Through his life, he taught his family the importance of holistic medicine.

One of Cheno's greatest accomplishments was spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed music, barbecues and working with his hands.

Cheno is survived by his sons, Johnnie, Robert (Dolores), Billy, Richard (Rosemary), and Ronnie Arviso; daughters, Chata (Neto) Munoz, Linda (Goldie) Ellin, Cheryl Ann Arviso of Yuma; 29 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lola Merino and Josie Jimenez of California; and numerous nieces, cousins, and friends.

P.C. will be welcomed into the gates of Heaven by his wife, Amelia Olea Arviso; parents, Francisco and Antonia Chavez Arviso; numerous brothers and sisters.

There will be a viewing at Johnson Mortuary on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be at Immaculate Conception Church on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. The interment will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, in the Garden of St. Joseph. A reception will be held at the conclusion of the interment.
